This race had been anticipated to be among the more competitive editions of this unique 7-furlong contest for female horses. Yet, veterinary inspections led to multiple withdrawals this morning, including leading runners Sweet Azteca as well as Tamara.

As a result, the lineup looks significantly reduced, but trainer Bob Baffert stands a strong chance to secure his 20th Breeders’ Cup win. His entrants feature Richi along with Splendora, while Hope Road, winner of the G1 Ballerina Stakes, is considered the primary threat.
