19 of Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a former world number one, has had a challenging year, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - led to him exiting of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-time trainer Cervara.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks his first trophy following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface from March of 2023.

The win also signifies the Russian has secured 21 victories at 21 different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is really nice," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the first title I won when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, including in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and frequent reactions on the playing surface had caused commentators to question if his capacity to compete at the top level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and play positively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

He recovered from a break down in the opening set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the last five games to take the lead.

The pair exchanged breaks in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his first professional championship, gained dominance to push for a final set.

He defended four initial opportunities in a tight deciding set before the champion broke to that score to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner clinched the title with a shot at the net, with Moutet incapable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
