Former Arsenal Player Thomas Partey Denies Rape Allegations
Ex-Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has pleaded not guilty to sexual assault two women and sexually assaulting a additional complainant.
The Ghanaian football star pleaded not guilty to five counts of rape and one charge of sexual assault when he stood before judges at Southwark Crown Court.
The alleged offences were said to have happened between 2021-2022, when the 32-year-old regularly played in the English top flight. He was formally accused several days after leaving the London-based team, following the expiration of his contract at the end of June.
Mr Partey was released on conditional bail until his trial, which is scheduled to begin at the same court on November 2nd the following year.
He spoke to confirm his identity before denying all charges to every accusation made against him.
The midfielder, who now plays Spanish side Villareal, was already in England as his current club faced Spurs in the Champions League on Tuesday. He was substituted as a substitute in what resulted in a 1-0 loss for his team.
The terms of his bail do not prevent Mr Partey from continuing his professional career, but he must inform authorities of any international travel one day in advance and must not contact the alleged victims.
