Israeli Forces Reveals Short-Term Escape Route for Gaza City Civilians

On Wednesday, Israeli defense forces declared the establishment of a short-term route along a major thoroughfare to permit inhabitants to leave Gaza City.

This move follows Israel began a large-scale ground offensive into the urban center, featuring tanks and remote-controlled armored cars packed with munitions.

Official Announcement

As per a announcement by spokesperson Avichay Adraee, the route will remain open for two days only.

Israeli forces stated that the offensive in the region could require a number of months to conclude.

International Reaction

The operation was launched despite widespread condemnation and a recently published UN investigation that accused Israeli forces of carrying out atrocities in Gaza.

Israel rejected the findings as distorted.

"Israel is resolved to continue the operation and does not agree to meaningful ceasefire discussions," said world body leader António Guterres.

Leadership Statements

The nation's leader Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized that the goals of the offensive were defeating the enemy and evacuating the population, not mentioning any reference of freeing captives—a previously declared objective.

Relatives of hostages protested near the Prime Minister's residence in the capital, stating him of neglecting their family members.

Crisis Update

The Health Ministry in the strip reported that 59 people were dead and hundreds injured in the previous 24 hours, raising the reported death toll to nearly sixty-five thousand after almost two years of war.

Numerous residents described heavy shelling that shook the earth and forced multiple evacuations.

International Measures

The European Commission is set to present a proposal to European countries to pressure Israel to alter its strategy in the conflict.

EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas cautioned that the offensive would exacerbate an already deeply critical situation.
