New England Match Longest Victory Run Since Brady Years with Triumph Over Jets
First-year player Henderson has recorded five touchdowns this season
The New England Patriots equaled their best victory streak since the Brady era as they beat AFC East rivals the Jets 27-14 in the NFL
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson led the way with three touchdowns as the New England squad claimed an eight-game winning streak for the initial occasion since legendary quarterback Brady's last year with the team in 2019
Quarterback Drake Maye passed for 281 passing yards and a touchdown, completing 25 out of 34 attempts
The triumph increases the New England's advantage at the summit of the division as they moved to a 9-2 record, with the New York bottom after slipping to two victories and eight defeats
The opposing team had gone in front at their home field with QB Justin Fields scoring a five-yard TD to finish the New York's first possession
But the Patriots fought back in the second period as Henderson rushed for two short rushing scores before the running back hauled in a throw from Maye at the back of the end zone halfway into the third period to push the score to 21 to 7
"It was a key occasion for him stepping up, and it's been excellent for him to keep gaining experience," Maye said of Henderson. "He desires to be excellent."
Justin Fields threw to John Metchie in the latter part of the third period to close the gap for the visitors but Borregales converted a pair of field goals in the final period as the Patriots sealed the victory
